Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be a character for any fucking reason.

You are never “too fat”. You are never “too short”. It doesn’t fucking matter if you aren’t the race or ethnicity that the character you want to dress up as is. It doesn’t fucking matter if you want to genderbend the character, or if you don’t have “big enough breasts” or “aren’t muscular enough”. It doesn’t fucking matter if you are a non-cisperson wanting to dress up as a cisperson. It doesn’t fucking matter if you are a non-hetero person wanting to dress up as a hetero person. Or vice versa, or anything in between. It doesn’t matter if you are “too young” or “too old”. It doesn’t matter if you can walk around perfectly fine, or if you are permanently or temporarily physically disabled…or even mentally disabled. If doesn’t matter if the costume is “too scanty” or “not scanty” enough. It doesn’t matter if you’ve just heard about this character or have been following them for twenty years.

What matters is YOU.

You.

You, having fun pretending to be that character.

You, working so hard on that costume regardless if you have all the time and money in the world or if you have no money and no time.

You, putting on the costume and the courage to go out into public.

You, doing it for yourself, doing it for attention, doing it to meet fans, doing it to pretend to be someone you aren’t, doing it for the love of the character or what that character represents.

You. You. YOU.

It’s all about YOU.

Remember that.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

They can go fuck themselves.

You go kick their asses, and you go be that character.

Because you fucking rock.

Cosplay is about having fun and pretending to be someone you aren’t. Also some people don’t have the time and money to make bad ass costumes.

Get over yourself.
